MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana football coach Mick Delaney has named former Oregon State player and Colgate assistant Kade Rannings as the tight ends coach for the Grizzlies.

Delaney says Rannings is a dynamic, intelligent and very energetic young football coach. He worked with the tight ends and fullbacks at Colgate last year and previously served as running backs and assistant special teams coach since April 2008.

Rannings began coaching at Oregon State as an undergraduate under coaches Dennis Erickson and Mike Riley.

In 2005, he joined current San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh at San Diego State, as the team posted an 11-1 record.

He then went on to coach wide receivers at St. Joseph's College in Indiana for two seasons before taking the job at Colgate.
