ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Central Florida has presented its case to have a one-year postseason ban in football overturned as it prepares to move to the Big East Conference next season.

School spokesman Grant Heston says that its appeal took a little more than three hours to present at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis on Thursday.

He said there is no timetable to receive a ruling.

It is the lone penalty UCF challenged as part of sanctions levied last July for major recruiting violations in football and basketball. UCF also received a one-year postseason ban in basketball, $50,000 fine, five years' probation, reduction of basketball scholarships, and limits on football recruiting.

UCF's appeal allowed it to participate in postseason play in 2012. The Knights finished 10-4, defeating Ball State in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl.
