CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Bobby Acosta has been hired as head coach at Widener. The Pride announced the hiring of The College of New Jersey offensive coordinator Tuesday. He will replace Isaac Collins, who stepped down to take the head coaching position at Division II Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pa. Acosta spent the last five seasons with the Lions, running the offense the past four years. The offense set single-season school records in 2012 in passing yards (2,491) and completions (269). During the 2009 season, the offense scored the most points (309) in a single season in program history. A member of the Mid Atlantic Conference, Widener went 11-1 in 2012 and won a pair of NCAA tournament games. They won their first 11 games of the season before being eliminated by eventual national champion Mt. Union in the national quarterfinals. Acosta will make his debut Sept. 7 against Wesley.
