JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Ken Sparks, a football coach who won 338 games for Division II Carson-Newman to rank fifth on the NCAA's all-time list, has died. He was 73.

Carson-Newman athletic department spokesman Adam Cavalier said Sparks' wife, Carol, informed the school that the coach had died Wednesday at their home.

Beavers get a look at QB transfer Luton in the spring game

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State fans were buoyed by last season's Civil War victory over Oregon, which snapped an eight-game losing streak in the rivalry and provided a sense of momentum.

There might be reason for continued optimism after Saturday's spring game.

Running back Ryan Nall galloped for big gains as expected — and threw a 60-yard touchdown on the first play — but the Beavers also flashed more of a vertical passing game after being run-heavy last season.
