JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir (moh-HODG-ur) says the Red Wolves coaching position is an attractive one, and he points to the program's consecutive Sun Belt Conference championships.

Gus Malzahn on Tuesday accepted the head coach job at Auburn, marking the second consecutive season that ASU has lost its head coach.

Like Hugh Freeze a year ago, Malzahn will lead a program in the Southeastern Conference. Freeze left to coach Ole Miss, which he led to a bowl appearance this season.

Mohajir says current plans call for Malzahn to coach the Red Wolves in the Bowl against Kent State on Jan. 9.

Mohajir also says the Jonesboro campus will follow through on plans to upgrade facilities. He says the search for a replacement is to begin immediately.
