Alabama star Jonathan Allen took to social media to thank the fans after the national championship game.

Before that, the defensive end, who won the Nagurski Trophy and Bednarik Award as the nation's top defensive player, was his own toughest critic. Even though he had seven tackles and a sack.

"What hurts me is the fact that I let the team down," Allen said. "The offense played so hard. The defense started good but we didn't finish strong. That's not what we do.

"I've got to place the blame on myself. I didn't play like I should. I let the team down."

Allen is projected as an early first-round NFL draft pick. He clearly took a little stock of his career afterward.
