Illinois makes Lunt transfer official

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois football coach Tim Beckman says quarterback Wes Lunt's transfer from Oklahoma State is official.

Beckman said Tuesday that the sophomore-to-be signed paperwork to transfer to Illinois. Lunt held a news conference in his hometown, Rochester, to announce his plans to join the Illini.

Beckman said in a news release that he was thrilled to add Lunt.

The quarterback started five games as a freshman for the Cowboys. But injury knocked him out of the lineup and he announced plans to leave Oklahoma State after the season.

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — Tyler Boyd returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown and had a hand on five scoring plays to lead Pennsylvania over Maryland 58-27 in the Big 33 Football Classic on Saturday night.

Boyd, a University of Pittsburgh recruit, was named the game's most valuable player after accumulating 310 total yards, including 89 receiving and 68 passing.

BRIDGMAN, Mich. (AP) — Coach Brian Kelly says Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson and UCLA defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes won't be playing college football this fall for the same reason: accountability.

"I really look at this as fairly clear-cut scenarios. Everett Golson didn't live up to the standards and he's held accountable. Eddie Vanderdoes had a standard to live up to and he was held accountable. So those aren't that hard. I don't have to spend much time thinking about it," Kelly said Wednesday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Model and reality TV actress Katherine Webb said Friday she and the University of Alabama's quarterback remain an item, but they're not engaged.

Webb told The Associated Press that she's still dating AJ McCarron, but that's as far as it goes for now.

"We're doing great," she said.

As for a possible engagement, Webb said: "No, I promise you, you guys will know when that time comes."
