Montana stuns North Dakota State 38-35 on late TD

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Bob Stitt is off and running at the University of Montana — at four-time defending national champion North Dakota State's expense.

Joey Counts scored on a 1-yard run on fourth-and-goal with 2 seconds left to give the Grizzlies a 38-35 victory Saturday in the Football Championship Subdivision showdown.

"Here's my statement: How about that?" Stitt said. "That was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy how calm I was and everybody all around us was. The players, man, they were so focused."

Alabama punter hopes to improve on 'amazing' freshman season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — JK Scott's bio after one season as Alabama's punter takes up a full page in the media guide and begins with heady praise.

"Produced the best season for a punter in Alabama football history..."

The third-ranked Crimson Tide sophomore might not get recognized much on campus — that's a punter's lot, after all — but his booming punts made him one of the team's most acclaimed players straight out of high school in Denver.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — TCU receiver and kick returner Cameron Echols-Luper has left the school.

Echols-Luper announced the decision on his Twitter account. TCU officials confirmed Saturday that the junior, whose father is the Horned Frogs running backs coach, is no longer in the program.

In his Tweet, Echols-Luper said he decided to begin a new chapter in his life with a "fresh start." He made no reference to where he was going.
