GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Police and school officials say a Greensboro man and former East Carolina University football player has died after being involved in a dispute with his brother.

Police were called to a home shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and found 24-year-old Derek Deontay Blacknall. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Derek Blacknall played defensive back for the Pirates from 2008 through 2011 and coach Ruffin McNeill says in a statement that the program "has sadly lost a member of our football family."

Lt. T.J. Biffle says the victim's brother, 30-year-old Darren Broderick Blacknall, is charged with first-degree murder. It was not clear whether he has a lawyer.

No other details were immediately available.
