Kansas (1-0) at No. 17 Coastal Carolina (1-0), Friday at 7:30 p.m. EDT (ESPN2).
Line: Coastal Carolina by 25 1/2, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Series record: Coastal Carolina leads 2-0.
WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Coastal Carolina is moving up and will get another boost by defeating its first ever Power Five opponent at its home stadium. Kansas and new coach Lance Leipold could certainly used a signature win before Big 12 Conference play and this would qualify.
Kansas' secondary vs. Coastal Carolina QB Grayson McCall: McCall had little trouble finding receivers in the Chanticleers' 52-14 win over The Citadel last week, completing 16 of 19 throws for 262 yards and a touchdown. The Jayhawks held South Dakota to 98 yards passing in their opening week victory. The group will be hard pressed to slow down McCall and his receiving weapons in tight end Isaiah Likely and wideout Jaivon Heiligh, who combined for 11 catches and 197 yards a week ago.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kansas QB Jason Bean: Bean passed for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 54 yards and could be handful to contain for the Coastal Carolina defense. Bean has an edge, having played in this stadium last year as the North Texas quarterback when the Mean Green lost to Appalachian State in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
Coastal Carolina CB D'Jordan Strong: Strong is considered an high-round NFL draft pick after finishing third in the country last year with five interceptions. He didn't see much action against The Citadel's run based offense last week.
