Iowa State coach Matt Campbell has promised to tweak the Cyclones uniforms in an effort to appeal to a younger generation.
To that end, Iowa State made a surprise announcement Thursday that it would be debuting a new logo and helmet when it faces Texas on national television.
The logo, depicting a "Cyclone" on an all-cardinal helmet, won't replace the "I-State" main logo that the school adopted about a decade ago after using a new wordmark seemingly every few years or so.
Iowa State has worn a different uniform/helmet combination in each of its four games this fall.
Whether the Cyclones latest look has a future is anyone's guess _ but their players seemed to like the new hats.
