Cowbells have been a staple at Mississippi State football games for decades, providing a deafening experience for opposing teams. At a typical game, there are tens of thousands of Mississippi State fans ringing the metal noisemakers.
But Mississippi State spokesman Kyle Niblett said Guinness has strict standards for its records and the logistics of trying to set the record at a game proved impossible.
