Those days of the worst offense in the Atlantic Coast Conference belonging to Wake Forest? The running jokes about the scoreless draw three years ago with Virginia Tech?
These are the highest-scoring Demon Deacons in program history, breaking the decade-old school record by scoring their 365th point of the season late in the first quarter of Saturday night’s game against No. 25 North Carolina State.
Wake Forest entered averaging 35.1 points, six points better than the best per-game average in school history set in 1986. The Demon Deacons scored 42, 37 and 64 points in their previous three games.
The 2007 team scored 362 points and ended that season with a victory over Connecticut in what’s now called the Belk Bowl.
