Robertson was ill and unable to make the trip from his home in the Puget Sound area to Pullman for Friday's game between No. 6 Washington and No. 23 Washington State. The winner will claim the Pac-12 North title and a spot in the Pac-12 championship game.
Robertson's absence was announced during the pregame radio show. Robertson's streak started in 1964 and included a three-year stint calling Washington football. He did miss the 1981 Holiday Bowl because of a broadcast contract dispute.
Robertson has been a fixture of Washington State football beginning in 1964 and covering every season since except for a brief span between 1969-71 when he called Huskies games. Robertson also called Washington State basketball for 23 years.
Robertson gave up primary play-by-play duties of Washington State football three years ago, but was still part of the broadcasts.
