RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Tech head football coach Raymond Monica has welcomed 125 players to campus for the opening of football practice.

The Wonder Boys first on-field practice was on Thursday. Players will add shoulder pads for Saturday's practice before getting into full gear on Monday.

The Wonder Boys will have daily practices through August 27. Classes begin the following day, and the Wonder Boys will resume their regular practice schedule.

The preparation will all culminate in the 2013 season opener on Sept. 5 at Northwestern Oklahoma. The Wonder Boys will play an eleven-game schedule, including ten Great American Conference games.

Tech's home schedule starts Sept. 14 against Southwestern Oklahoma. The Wonder Boys play four of their first five games away from home, including a non-conference tilt at Nicholls State on Sept. 28.
