Jacob Eason has shed his crutch, a possible sign that a quarterback controversy is coming for No. 13 Georgia.
Eason suffered a sprained left knee while starting Georgia's opening win over Appalachian State. Freshman Jake Fromm won that game in relief and started last week's 20-19 win at Notre Dame as well as Saturday night's game against Samford.

Fromm has earned compliments from teammates and coach Kirby Smart for his unusual poise. Smart, however, has given no indication Eason won't immediately return to the starting job when ready.
Eason was not in uniform but showed no apparent sign of the injury as he walked around on the field during pregame warmups. He leaned on a crutch on the sideline last week at Notre Dame.
Georgia opens its Southeastern Conference schedule with next week's home game against Mississippi State.
