RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Veteran coach Dave Huxtable is joining Dave Doeren's new staff at North Carolina State as defensive coordinator.

Huxtable comes to the Wolfpack after spending the season in the same role at Pittsburgh. While there, the Panthers were top 30 performers in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and passing defense.

In 2011, Huxtable served as linebackers coach at Wisconsin.

Among Huxtable's previous stops in a 31-year career is a stop at Central Florida, where in 2008 he guided a top-20 defense which was eighth in the nation in points allowed.

Huxtable also coached at North Carolina, Georgia Tech, East Carolina and Oklahoma State.
