RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — New North Carolina State coach Dave Doeren has hired Matt Canada as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Canada spent this season in the same position at Wisconsin, which will face Stanford in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. Canada went to Wisconsin after working under Doeren at Northern Illinois as offensive coordinator in 2011. He had worked at Indiana as an assistant for seven years before that.

In addition, Doeren said current assistant Desmond Kitchings will remain on the staff. Kitchings will serve as running backs coach after coaching running backs and tight ends under Tom O'Brien this season.

Kitchings had spent the 2011 season as the running game coordinator and running backs coach at Air Force. He had also worked as an assistant at Vanderbilt and Furman.
