Michigan fans teamed up to donate more than $15,000 to the ChadTough Foundation in less than 24 hours, surpassing the goal of matching the Big Ten's $10,000 fine levied on the school after Jim Harbaugh's rant about the officiating in Ohio State's win over the Wolverines.
Maize & Blue Nation, a blog, started the fundraiser and got an assist from other Michigan-related blogs following the conference's decision Monday to publicly reprimand Harbaugh and to fine the university. The blog challenged the Big Ten to match the donation to the foundation, which honors Chad Carr, the grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. The 5-year-old Carr died due to brain cancer a little more than a year ago.
