Nick Saban reached a pair of milestones Saturday when No. 1 Alabama beat Mississippi State 51-3 Saturday.

He led a No. 1 team to a 40th victory and coached a top-ranked team for the 45th time, tying marks set by Ohio State's Woody Hayes and matched by Bobby Bowden at Florida State.

Saban will break both records next Saturday against Chattanooga in a tuneup for a matchup with rival Auburn, which is No. 8 going into its game against Georgia, on Nov. 26 at home.

He has won four national championships and 206 college football games at Alabama, LSU, Michigan State and Toledo.
