Though the statue has been taken down, Penn State and the family of Paterno announced Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, they had resolved “the outstanding issues” that divided them, eight years after he was fired after Jerry Sandusky's child molestation arrest. The university and Paterno's widow, Sue Paterno, both issued statements that Penn State had agreed to pay “certain of the Paterno family's expenses” and wished to move forward.
