The Big Easy? More like the Big Chill.
Frigid temperatures in New Orleans cut down on some of the pre-game revelry before the Sugar Bowl semifinal game between top-ranked Clemson and No. 4 Alabama.
Jackson Square, in the heart of the French Quarter, would normally be packed with fans on game day.
But the crowds were rather sparse on New Year's Day as temperatures struggled to climb above freezing, and the wind chill made it feel like the mid-20s.

"It is what it is. You've just got to roll with it," said a bundled-up vendor, clearly hurting for business at one of the iconic "Lucky Dog" hot dog carts that blanket the Quarter. "No one wants to deal with the cold."
Fortunately for the fans _ many of whom arrived in New Orleans without heavy winter coats _ the game was being held indoors at the Superdome.
